MV Pelee Islander to make Dangerous Goods transits on Tuesday, September 1

Please note the following change to the MV Pelee Islander schedule for Tuesday, September 1:

11:00am departure from Kingsville is not available to the public as it will be a Dangerous Goods Run departing at 10:45am, carrying a Propane truck to service Pelee Island residents and businesses.

Ferry will provide service to the public between Pelee Island and Sandusky as per the schedule:

P. Islander departs Pelee Island for Sandusky at 1:00pm
P. Islander departs Sandusky for Pelee Island at 3:30pm

5:45pm departure from Pelee Island to Kingsville is not available to the public as it will be a Dangerous Goods Run, carrying the empty (but not gas freed) Propane truck back to Kingsville.

Ferry will provide service for public between Kingsville and Pelee Island, departing Kingsville at 7:30pm.

Aug 18 UPDATE - Notice: Ferry Service moves to Kingsville for Monday, August 24

Dredging of the Kingsville harbour and channel is approaching completion, and the Pelee Island Ferry Service will move from the Leamington facility to Kingsville for the start of the business day on Monday, August 24. Ferry Service will continue from the Kingsville facility through the end of the 2015 operating season, per the published ferry schedule.

Customers should note that dock diversions and schedule changes can and do take place during the fall sailing season, largely due to weather disruptions. Customers are encouraged to continue to follow the Pelee Island Transportation Service website and @peleeferry on Twitter for updates.

Pelee Island to get new Ferry
Ontario's Ministry of Transportation has announced funding and a ship building contract for a new ferry to replace the 55 year-old MV Pelee Islander.

May 30/31 is Pelee Island Marathon Weekend!

Sailing Schedule changes for Marathon weekend are as follows:

Saturday, May 30

Jiimaan sailing schedule - no change.
Pelee Islander will make an additional sailing: departing Leamington at 4pm

Sunday, May 31

Pelee Islander:
Departs Pelee Island at 8am
Departs Leamington at 10am
The 4pm from Leamington is cancelled

Departs Pelee Island at 12noon, 4pm & 8pm
Departs Leamington at 2pm, 6pm & 9:30pm

Jiimaan will not offer alcoholic beverage services during Victoria Day weekend

Pelee Island Transportation is pleased to be part of your Victoria Day weekend plans. We expect a very busy weekend, and encourage all foot passengers to arrive at the ferry dock early. Please be mindful that we do not exceed the ferries' regulated passenger count limits.

Please also note that there will be no alcoholic beverage sales or service on the Jiimaan from Friday, May 15 through Monday May 18, 2015.

Passengers are welcome to transport, but not consume alcohol on the ferry under the following conditions:

No alcohol can be transported on the ferry unless it is in its original unopened, sealed container, and must remain properly stowed in passenger baggage. Alcohol cannot be opened or consumed on the ferry.

General Passenger Behaviour: All passengers are expected to be respectful of their fellow travellers' safety and comfort. Any person arriving at the dock who appears to be inebriated, or is otherwise disorderly, may be denied transportation on the ferry. The ferry service is not responsible for any costs incurred by persons refused transportation.

2015 Ferry Service start date
2015 Ferry Service between Leamington, ON and Pelee Island will begin with the 6pm departure of MV Pelee Islander from Leamington on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

Winter Air Service will finish the season on Thursday morning, April 9. The last Windsor departure is at 9:00am, and the last Pelee Island departure is at 9:40am.

Jiimaan will begin ferry service as scheduled on May 1.

Ferry reservations are not required, but are highly recommended, and can be made by calling 1-800-661-2220.

2015 Ferry Service Start Date delayed due to Lake Erie Ice
Ferry service will begin when Lake Erie Ice conditions permit safe and uninterrupted operation. The ferries are not designed to operate in any type of ice condition, and are susceptible to propellor damage which can take a ferry out of service for a prolonged period of time.

Flight service will continue through Easter weekend (see flight schedule posted below), and lake ice conditions will be evaluated again on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
