On Sunday, September 29th, we celebrated onboard the MS Chi-Cheemaun as she marked her 50th anniversary since her inaugural passage between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island in 1974. Thank you to everyone that joined us for a sail and celebrated this wonderful occasion!
We extend a heartfelt thank you to each of our incredible guest speakers, Rick Byers, Member of Provincial Parliament for Bruce–Grey–Owen Sound; Chris Peabody, Warden for Bruce County; Milt McIver, Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula; Lenore Keeshig, an Anishinaabe storyteller recounting when her father, Donald Keeshig, won the Chi-Cheemaun naming contest; Miptoon & Beverly Nadjiwon, Counsellors for the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation; James Hepple, member of the Owen Sound Transportation Company’s board of directors; local historian Richard J. Thomas; and musical guest, Moondance.
