Reservation Policy
Reservations are required for all passengers, whether walking on or in a vehicle. Full fare is charged at time of booking and may be paid using Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Visa Debit. Amendments to reservations which impact the fare will incur a credit card transaction fee of $3.00 each time such an amendment is made. EX. no fee is applied when exchanging an SUV fir a small car, as the fare does not change, whereas adding or removing a trailer from a booking incurs a fee as the fare does change.
Vehicle must arrive 1 hour prior to departure, and must accurately reflect vehicle reservation, or a reservation is void and passage is no longer guaranteed. Notice of cancellation or rebooking must be received a minimum of 48 hours (2 days) prior to departure. Fares cannot be refunded if less than 48 hours (2 days) notice is given.
All passengers must vacate the vehicle deck during passage. Vehicles are loaded and unloaded at the owner’s risk. Owen Sound Transportation Company assumes no responsibility for the contents of any vehicle, or for the security of it, or damage caused to or by vehicles, motorcycles, or bicycles while aboard the ship.
To be able to fulfill our agreement with our customers, in terms of booking and safety requirements, we need to collect and process the customer’s personal information. This information can consist of, but is not limited to, name, address, country, date of birth, telephone number, email address, and other information provided by the customer at time of booking or contact. Your personal information is only kept for as long as needed to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or for as long as required to comply with legal requirements.

O.S.T.C. recognizes and respects your need for privacy and security as you visit our site. When you visit our site to view any pages or read company information, you do so without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. While we do not collect identifying information about visitors to our site, we do use standard software to collect information for the strict purpose of tracking activity on our site. This allows us to better understand how many people use our site and which pages and features are most popular. The only information we normally collect and store is:
- The name of your Internet service provider.
- The web site that referred you to us (if any).
- The date and time the pages were accessed.
- The page or pages you requested.
There are instances where you may elect to provide us with personal information. If you fill out one of our feedback forms or send us email, you are transmitting the information that appears to you in the form or the message. This will typically include information like your name, mailing address, email address, the kind of request you are making, and any other information necessary to fulfill your request. You never transmit personally identifying information that you do not enter yourself. And this is always your option; this information cannot be collected unless you specifically elect to send it to us. This information is used internally only for the purpose of fulfilling the request or for contacting you directly and is not given or sold to any other organization.
Should you choose to use our Online Reservation system when you submit personally identifying information and credit card numbers, that information is encrypted using full 128bit encryption by your browser before it is transmitted back to our web site. This effectively prevents anyone from intercepting and reading any personal information about you. Note that this encryption does not take place if you send us email, but only when you use your web browser with one of our site’s reservation forms. Information entered on the reservation forms is stored on our secure server indefinitely with the exception of credit card information. Credit card information is cleared from the system on an annual basis once the current sailing season is completed.
