Last Tuesday morning, the Chi-Cheemaun’s crew deployed the Marine Evacuation System for training and recertification purposes for the ferry.
A crowd gathered on the east side of the Owen Sound harbour to watch this exercise which is part of Owen Sound Transportation Company’s ongoing commitment to safety and emergency preparedness. In addition to the Chi-Cheemaun’s crew, the Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue crew from Tobermory as well as approximately 60 Marine Navigation and Engineering Cadets from Georgian College participated as passengers and slid down the deployed Marine Evacuation System slide into the raft, where then the Zodiac towed them safely to shore.
