All are Welcome! Mon. Oct. 21: Greet the Chi-Cheemaun in Owen Sound harbour || Tues. Oct. 22: Watch the Chi-Cheemaun Deployment Exercise

Chi-Cheemaun - Travel In Good Spirits

The Chi-Cheemaun’s final scheduled run of the season will be on Sunday, October 20, departing South Baymouth at 3:50 p.m.

As the 50th Anniversary and 2024 sailing season comes to an end, join us in welcoming the MS Chi-Cheemaun back to the Owen Sound harbour (west wall) for her winter berth on Monday, October 21 where she is expected to arrive at approximately 4:00 p.m. Bring celebratory noisemakers, flags, and pompoms. We love a warm reception! Also joining us at the harbour from 3:30-4:30 p.m., weather permitting, is the 104-year-old Owen Sound City Band, led by esteemed guest conductor Ted Graper. Everyone is welcome!

An exciting morning has been planned for Tuesday, October 22. Come and watch the ship’s crew deploy the Marine Evacuation System for training and recertification purposes for the Chi-Cheemaun.  The best place to watch is on the east side of Owen Sound harbour (close to the Metro grocery store). This exercise is part of Owen Sound Transportation Company’s ongoing commitment to safety and emergency preparedness. The purpose of the exercise is to practice deploying evacuation equipment and response tactics. Marine Navigation and Engineering Cadets from Georgian College will be participating as passengers as the Marine Evacuation System slide is deployed and the zodiac tows the raft to shore.  The deployment exercise will start around 9:00 a.m. and is expected to wrap up around 11:00 a.m.  All are welcome to watch!

All events are weather permitting.
