Customers must declare additional fuel containers upon arrival at the dock. Transport Canada safety regulations prohibit the carriage of gasoline and propane in excess of the following quantities:


Not more than two cylinders of propane safely secured to the vehicle in an upright position with valves closed and tagged.


Not more than two portable 25 litre containers.


Not more than two portable 25 litre containers

All persons must vacate the vehicle deck during crossing.

General Info


Person(s) holding reservations must check-in at vehicle ticket booth at least ONE HOUR prior to sailing time or space will not be held.


Cancel or reschedule at no charge 48 or more hours prior to departure.
Cancellation or rebooking 48-24 hours prior to departure incurs 1/2 reservation fare.
Cancellation or rebooking with under 24 hours notice incurs full reservation fare.

the two retractable ramps located above the centre lanes of the vehicle deck. These ramps are exceptionally narrow and have limited height clearance. Only vehicles that meet the size specifications and/or use restrictions, AND are parked on the McGregor ramp will be charged the McGregor Ramp rate.


Chi-Cheemaun Ferry Parking Lot Fees 

Over-night and multi-day parking parking fees at the Tobermory and South Baymouth terminal parking lots will begin at the start of the 2020 summer operating season.  Ferry parking lots are restricted to ferry users only.

2020 Parking Fees:

Same Day- FREE

Daily – $10/day

Weekly – $60/week (7 days)



Limited wheelchair and onboard elevator services are available; please advise ticket agent on arrival if such services are required. Note: some motorized wheelchairs may not fit in the onboard elevator and a transfer wheelchair may be necessary. Please call ahead if bringing a motorized wheelchair.


Pets are allowed on the vehicle and in designated areas of the outside deck of the ship. Please ask a crewmember for directions.


Buses must make advanced reservations.


Trucks requiring overweight highway permits cannot be accepted for passage. Wide-load highway permits are charged for half-fare extra above normal rates. Some restrictions and additional fees apply; please call for details.


Vehicles are loaded and unloaded at owner’s risk.


Credit and Debit cards may be used as a form of payment onboard the ship.

Owen Sound Transportation Company assumes no responsibility for contents of any vehicle or for the security of or damage caused to or by vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles for any reason while aboard the ship.
